HELIUM LEAK DETECTION TECHNICIAN
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Field Job Scope
• Assist the field Supervisor in conducting condenser air inleakage,
tube leakage, electrical generator inspections, and other pressure and
vacuum inspections utilizing helium as a tracer gas.
• Become educated on the operation of a power plant and the procedures
used to identify vacuum and pressure leaks on turbines, condensers, and
generators. This is accomplished by American Efficiency Services in-house
training, independent reading material, asking questions (at the appropriate
time), and observing the Field Supervisors techniques.
• Establish good customer relations by presenting yourself in
a professional manner and ensure our work area is constantly clean.
• Assist the Field Supervisor in the setup and breakdown of the
equipment.
• Allow the Field Supervisor to do all the interfacing with the
customer.
• Be prepared to work at the time designated by the Plant Personnel
and Field Supervisor for each job scope. Each inspection has a different
and inconsistent time schedule.
Shop Job Scope
• Maintain the leak detection equipment in proper operating condition
as directed by the Field Supervisor. This includes the cleaning of the
cases and company vehicles.
• Assist the Field Supervisor on each job’s final report
(ex. Make copies, and photograph development).
• Become educated on the operation of a power plant and the procedures
used to identify vacuum and pressure leaks on turbines, condensers, and
generators. This is accomplished by American Efficiency Services in-house
training, independent reading material, asking questions (at the appropriate
time), and working closely with the Field Supervisors on equipment and
procedures.
General Responsibilities
• As most of our business requires an emergency response you must
be available 24-hours a day unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
We will provide as much notice as possible before a job, but in most
situations we have less than six hours to begin travel to our destination.
Our immediate response to our customers needs will gain us the trust
of our customers and their respect. This aspect of our service will prove
to be the most valuable part of our service and be the most demanding
of our employees.
Other responsibilities will include supporting American Efficiency Services
in all other job scopes in the shop and field when required.
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
