Stations Reduce Condensate Dissolved Oxygen
March 16, 2004 – American Efficiency Services, LLC (AES), the nation’s

By identifying and temporarily repairing a leak on a condensate pump
at FP&L’s St. Lucie Nuclear Generating Station, AES helped
the station reduce dissolved oxygen levels from approximately 14 ppb
to approximately 7.4 ppb.
At AmerenUE’s Calloway Nuclear Generating Station, AES identified
a leaking steam generator feed pump rupture disc. Once a temporary
repair was applied to the rupture disc the dissolved oxygen was recorded
at approximately 3 ppb, down from a high of 20 ppb. The significance
of this leak is that it was identified above the hotwell condensate
level.
